Calusa Ballroom FGH
Economic downturns are common-the U.S. has experienced 14 recessions during the last 80 years. Despite the pain they produce, downturns provide a means for society to re-balance what they deem important. Every recession leads to a spurt in new business starts, reformulation of business practices and new technological adaptations. In his address, Dr. Lowell Catlett will explain why we are on the verge of phenomenal growth in healthcare, energy and lifestyle markets. For those willing to embrace the opportunities, the next decade will be successful beyond any in history. Learn how to position your company to take advantage of the coming wave of prosperity.
Mike Staver, Leadership Isn't for Cowards How to Lead Courageously in a Turbulent Age
We live in an age when it is more and more challenging to manage all of the information, demands and challenges that are coming at us. It takes real courage to stand firm in what you believe and then to get your followers to understand what really matters and how to execute effectively. Your ability to influence your followers is key to every step of creating significant results. Courage is the key element in that process.
Thought Leader Panel The Future of the Independent Channel

Pet product distributors' fortunes are tied to independent pet dealers who are battling with big boxes, mass marketers and Internet retailers for market share. What can suppliers and distributors do to ensure the continued health of this segment of the pet product channel? Our panel of industry veterans - Retailer Dave Ratner, Dave's Soda & Pet City; Supplier Brent Weinmann, Vitakraft Sun Seed and Distributor Randy Reber, Animal Supply Company, will address this and other key topics in a fast-paced and candid discussion. Come prepared to pose the questions that most concern you during this highly interactive session.
Lunch Presentation on Pet Industry Product Database
12:15pm - 1:30pm
The Pet Industry Database (PIDB) is perhaps the most exciting development in the pet industry in many years. A joint venture between PIDA and Pinogy Co., the PIDB is a service that matches product data with existing inventory systems used by distributors and retailers. Product data will now flow seamlessly through the channel from manufacturer to distributor to retailer, eliminating costly and time consuming keystroke errors. Manufacturers will have a single distribution point for all product information, pictures, marketing materials and offers. Rob Cook, Pinogy President, will explain how the PIDB will work and how your company can take advantage of this remarkable new tool.
