PIDA Celebrates 50 Years in Orlando This March!
2018 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA) and the 60th Anniversary of the American Pet Products Association (APPA). Members are invited to join the celebration in Orlando during Global Pet Expo at a special reception on Thursday, March 22 at 6:00pm. An RSVP is required to attend. RSVP by Thursday, February 22 online.
2018 Pet Industry Leadership Conference welcomed 275 attendees to Southwest Florida for the 3rd annual joint conference with members from APPA, PIDA, PIJAC and WPA. Keynote speakers included an economic update from Brian Beaulieu of ITR Economics, an inspiring presentation by Tedx superstar Mel Robbins, Cybersecurity expert Brian Williams, and a powerful story from Jim Platzer with Leader Dogs for the Blind. Pet Industry Leadership Conference Gives Back.
GreaterGood.org was presented with a check in the amount of $6,700 for support of people and their pets during the general session of the Pet Industry Leadership Conference. Members of APPA, PIDA, PIJAC and WPA contributed through the Associations Give Back program. John Kane, Development Director for Rescue Bank accepted the donation on behalf of GreaterGood.org. Pets in the Classroom recently announced the winners of the annual Lesson Plan Contest, The Pet Care Trust invited teachers from pre-k through9th grade to submit their lesson plans built around their classroom pets. Winners and their plans are posted on the program website, (learn more)

Global Pet Care Sales Up 14% Since 2012. The global pet care industry grew 14% between 2012 and 2017 according to a recent statement from Paula Flores, the head of pet care research for market research firm Euromonitor International. The 14% growth figure represents $13 billion in increased sales, for a total of $109 billion in sales in 2017. (read more)
